How do I start a new standard of beauty?
How do I start a new standard of beauty?

conforming to the western ideal?
I've just started a new art project at uni, i want to challenge the western idealised beauty...
can anyone comment about how they feel about the way society judges female beauty and the struggle you maye have had conforming to this?
do you think the world of 'celebrity' have a strong influence on how women view themselves.
and men do you expect the high standards you see in magazines or in films or do you think women are the ones that expect to much?
thank you
Sounds like a nice project
. My house mate had a similar one to this for her Sociology course last year.
I think society judges female beauty in a very stereotypical way. I think people are too bothered about themselves and a bit narrow minded, which is why some people give so much 'credit' to girls that I would call slappers. They'd prefer a bit of glamour magazine reading, make-up caked meat than a woman who looks natural and healthy but maybe not as good to all the lads.
I think the world of celebrity does have a huge influence on how women view themselves. They think that it's the way they 'have' to look to impress males. I really hate it. Some celebrities look wonderful but its the Z-list 'local heroes' such as Jodie Marsh and Katie Price who put a downer on it all. Girls think they need to be caked in make up and wear expensive clothes.
Unfortunately, nobody takes much notice of the real beautiful role-model type female celebrity such as Rachel Weisz for example. Only the slappers get credit becuase they are the ones which come across as easy... A trait that girls seem to follow because they think that's the only way they will find true love.
I don't expect those high standards. My girlfriend looks a diamond when she's in her make up but I love seeing women that are dressed down and relaxed. I think that women try too hard all the time and think they have to work too hard to please narrow minded, shallow men. Of course everybody has their own taste in women, some like boobs, some like bums... I really don't think men are actually attracted to women caked in make up though and we all like how women look when they get out of the shower... If they get out and look like a drowned clown then it's never going to work
.
Some women bring it on themselves I think. Although some go out looking like slappers, they still have a low standard of themselves. This is the problem. That means they will get on any easy to please, shallow man because they believe that the make up does all the talking.
step 1: get famous
